Muster Day

Witness the sights and sounds of a re-created early 19th-century muster day, as Village militia members fire their muskets and drill and practice battle techniques on the Common. Youngsters of all ages are invited to learn to march, make a militia hat, and try on a knapsack and cartridge box.

Redcoats & Rebels

The largest military re-enactment in New England -- nearly 1,000 soldiers portraying British, Hessian, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, French and Colonial troops. Mock battles, cannon demonstrations, fife and drums and more.

The Village is open on this Monday holiday for visitors to experience everyday life in an early New England town in winter, and to pay tribute to the 20th-century civil rights leader by presenting characterizations of 19th-century individuals with New England ties who played significant roles in the 19th-century movement to abolish slavery.

 
Fire & Ice Days

It's a day to embrace the joys of an old-fashioned winter -- indoors and out. Join us today at the Village's Mill Pond to learn about ice harvesting in early New England. EXHIBIT: Farm, Families and Change

The museum's newest permanent exhibit, Farm, Families and Change, includes new displays in three of the Village's restored barns.  The exhibit addresses questions that resonate today:  "Where does our food come from?" and "Why does the New England landscape look the way it does?"
